It’s important to make any interactivity obvious to your audience—even by creating subtitles to instruct them to click or hover for more information. Users can also interact with your visualizations by selecting marks and hovering to see tooltips. The actions you set up can respond with navigation and changes in the view.

You can find a list of books by renowned data visualization experts in the appendix. Adding these whitepapers and books to the resources of your analytics community can lead to a deeper understanding and internalization of visual best practices. Next, let’s create a line chart that will describe the COVID-19 trend in the Indian states.

This means that if you design a dashboard at 1300 x 700 pixels, Tableau will resize it for smaller displays—and sometimes this results in scrunched views or scrollbars. If you keep this setting, be sure to construct your visualization at the size which it will be viewed. You can also set Size to Automatic, so Tableau automatically adapts the overall dimensions of a visualization based on screen size. The Tableau Dashboard that you will now learn to create will include the COVID-19 data related to India. It will need multiple worksheets, and the visualizations generated, will be combined to create a Tableau Dashboard to present the viewers with detailed insights on one screen.

Add interactivity to encourage exploration

In worksheet five, let’s work on predicting the upcoming COVID-19 cases in the INDIAN states. Additionally, you can use a Bar Chart to represent the Recovery Rate in India. The next step will be to use the data from the “Indian States” group to generate a Map Chart that describes confirmed case count and state name details.

Planning the layout of your Tableau dashboard involves sketching a rough layout, considering the size and orientation, and deciding on the elements to include. In the worksheet below, packed bubbles are used to display sales by product. It is really hard to accurately compare the sales of the different products. Spotlighting is a good example of how to emphasize what is important without overwhelming your users with color. With spotlighting only numbers that meet a defined threshold are highlighted.

What are some best practices for choosing the right chart types in Tableau?

Also, because we have the map in view, we probably don't need the South region column in Sales in the South, either. Too many views can also interfere with the performance of your dashboard after it's published. A well-designed dashboard can align your organization's efforts, help uncover key insights, and speed up decision-making. Use this topic for tips on best practices for creating effective dashboards in Tableau. This visualization tool gives visibility to the availability of products in the form of excesses or out of stock measures. In doing so, it helps you save a ton of money, since excessive products will eventually lead to spilled costs, while lack of availability indicates lost sales potential.

How do I plan the layout of my Tableau dashboard effectively?

Whether you’re a sales manager, sales analysts or sales executive, this tableau dashboard gives you the full picture—leads, opportunities, deal stages, and more. Performance and efficiency should be treated as part of the design process—not as an afterthought. Responsiveness is an important success factor for end users when viewing reports and dashboards, so making your workbooks run as quickly as possible makes for happier users.

The current screen shows the details related to all the states in India. Using the filter option on the right-hand side of the screen, you can get the information about a specific state or a collection of different states together. When building business dashboards, we will let brand colors guide us but that doesn’t mean that we’ll use the entire color palette on a dashboard. Choose one or two colors to do most of the work and then use neutral colors such as black, gray, and white where needed. To do this, you can use dashboards to display multiple worksheets at once, and—if you want—make them interact with one another. You can also display a highlighter that allows your customers to highlight parts of a view based on what they enter or select. In addition to knowing what you're trying to say, it's important to know who you're saying it to.

We’ll dive into the 15 best Tableau dashboard examples that deliver real, actionable insights. This series will cover six (6) design tips that will help you create business dashboards in Tableau that are easier to comprehend and visually more appealing. The phrase coined by Henrick Ibsen “A picture is worth a thousand words”, is a great reminder of the power of data visualizations in telling a story with data. To effectively use data to tell a story we need to make sure our dashboards support, not hinder our storytelling. Make use of filters to allow viewer interaction, add tooltips for more information, and utilize actions to link different elements together for seamless exploration of data.

The best visualizations have a clear purpose and work for their intended audience. It’s important to know what you are trying to say and who you are saying it to. Does your audience know this subject matter extremely well or will it be new to them?

Tableau Dashboard helps you in highlighting your company’s KPIs, depending on the business questions being asked, and the end-user. Dashboard actions, filters, and parameters, are the best tactics because they provide a way to transfer control of the data analysis from you to your client. Tableau provides one of the most effective ways to analyze data from any business process including sales, returns, purchase orders, warehouse operation, customer behavior, and more.

This dashboard breaks down sales data quarterly, providing clear visibility into trends and performance. The dashboard highlights key sales metrics, trends, and performance indicators, all in one place. The dashboard displays key metrics such as purchase history, account health, and recent interactions, all in an easy-to-read format. This comprehensive dashboard brings together critical data from various touchpoints, providing a holistic view of customer interactions and account status. The sales pipeline dashboard lets you zero in on key performance indicators that matter to your business.

Like worksheets, you access dashboards from tabs at the bottomof a workbook. Data in sheets and dashboards is connected; when you modify a sheet, any dashboards containing it change, and vice versa. Both sheets and dashboards update with the latest available data from the datasource. It's not easy to see details for each item under Sub-Category from your Sales in the South bar chart.

This is a powerful and simple way to make dashboards easier to navigate. In the example below, the question pulls the audience in and then tells the audience how to answer the question using the dashboard. In the second worksheet, let’s create another visualization that provides insights on the COVID-19 recovery in Indian states. With the Image object, you can either insert image files into dashboards or link to images posted on the web.

Plywood pallets are incredibly lightweight and super effective when it comes to surviving rough usage. Presswood pallets are made from wood fibers that are first processed and subjected to really high temperatures after which those fibers are pressured together to form a single, solid block of wood. Unfortunately, wood pallets can break under heavy loads, are more susceptible to bacterial or chemical contaminations, are damaged when wet, and can also suffer from bug infestations. Furthermore, wooden solid deck pallets have been shown to sustain lesser damage overall than other types of pallets and they are also a lot easier to repair and use again.

Star with Recycled Pallet Wood

One of the best things about plastic pallets is that they aren’t porous so it is extremely easy to clean and sterilize them. Plastic pallets guarantee superior performance and efficiency over other pallets considering the fact that they are mostly constructed with recycled PET and HDPE materials. Similarly, steel pallets have gained significant popularity among numerous food, tire and battery companies, as well as the Smithsonian for the main purpose of storing paper products. Metal pallets are strong, stiff, sturdy, free of insects, recyclable, and more sanitary than other materials. The disadvantages of metal include being higher in price, much heavier and susceptible to rusting, like steel.

A great advantage offered by wooden pallets is that they have a really strong grip and also have much higher friction as compared to plastic and metal pallets. The Foundation has been instrumental in funding the advancements in PDS™ software, making it the international standard in pallet design. Additional projects such as the landfill avoidance study, Natures Packaging, and the critical EPD study, raise our industry’s profile even higher as the “go-to” resource in the supply chain. I can’t imagine advancing our industry without the additional support of the Pallet Foundation.

On the surface, pallets might not come across as very useful objects, but interestingly, they have played a very important role in the history of the world’s economy. These machines are especially used when the goods placed on the pallet are heavier than usual. They have proven to be key and highly useful components in terms of improving performance and efficiency levels in numerous warehouses, factories and industries.

Get the pallet wood slats for impressive garden walkways and to install brilliant garden fences. Perfect for hiding unsightly wallpaper without the hassle of removal, pallet wood offers a unique, rustic appeal. Using minimal materials like chalk paint, a wood plank, and some creativity, you’ll turn a discarded pallet into a bespoke piece of furniture that enhances your home’s aesthetic.

Our restaurant concepts have proven stiff competition in a tough industry because they all work to fill a niche. We currently operate 23 restaurants with 6 different concepts in California, Arizona, Colorado,  Nevada, and Washington and we're growing! Our restaurant concepts include the Water Grill (7), Pier Burger, 555 East, Lou & Mickey's, Meat On Ocean, and the King's Fish House (12) establishments. In 1983, Jeff and Sam King signed their first lease together, and on the day before Thanksgiving, 6 weeks before the '84 Olympics, we opened our first concept, 555 East Steakhouse, and we still own and operate the restaurant today. King's Seafood is family owned and operated, and has been growing and evolving for over 70 years!

As part of this transition, Sam went to work for Tiny Naylor’s and Jeff went to sit on the 1984 Olympic Committee which was to be hosted in Los Angeles. The Carriage Club, a restaurant in Long Beach, was on the market and Sam went with Tiny Naylor’s to look at the prospect of the space. He called Jeff and proposed they start their own venture and take over this location as their first project. Jeff agreed and they signed their first lease the day before Thanksgiving in 1983.

We're convinced that wild fisheries are unable to meet the world’s growing demand for nutritious seafood. What do we think about Seafood?

King's Seafood Company has evolved through over 70 years of family restaurant business experience. In 1945, Lou and Mickey King, Jeff and Sam King's respective fathers, began to build the King's Restaurant chain throughout Southern California. After a hugely successful run of almost 40 years, the family sold the chain of six restaurants to Tiny Naylor's, Inc. in 1982.

Six weeks before the 1984 Olympics, we opened our first concept, 555 East, and we still own and operate the restaurant today. At that time, our company was called University Restaurant Group, a name inspired by the ‘friendly’ rivalry of USC and UCLA, Sam and Jeff's respective alma maters, and we held that name until 1998. Since then they've proven to be successful operators, and they've cultivated the art of delivering a quality product and a great Guest experience in all economic environments. They learned a lot from their fathers and Sam and Jeff continue to teach, guide and lead us to great adventures. Their dedication and commitment to the industry, the product, and the people has resulted in a profitable, successful, and growing company.

ANR Design Staccato C2 Appendix IWB RH Holster with Polymer Claw Black

There’s an MRD variant of the Reflex available for slightly more than the non-optics version we have here today, and it’s a departure from FN’s normal optics-mounting system. Rather than use the plates and shims that the standard 509 MRD employs, the Reflex has a standard RMSc footprint for direct attachment. Again, it’s a personal preference, and FN has opted to have both models available at launch. I tried all three, and they all worked well, but my favorite was the standard engraved (with their logo) polymer clip. This two-screw belt holder is wide enough to form a firm grip on the belt, preventing the holster from swiveling inside the waistband. It also allows the easiest on and off at the beginning and end of your day.

I decided to make my own, per a suggestion from a roommate at the time. This funded the Kydex holster-making side of the business. Best of all, the Appendix with Claw holster is part of ANR’s “Quick Ship” line that offers faster lead times for shipping—five to seven days compared to three to five weeks.

COMPANY

Even with the Quick Ship option, color combinations and belt-clip options abound, from standard colors to carbon-fiber, custom patterns and more. Color- and belt clip changes incur minor upcharges to the reasonably priced holster, so don’t be afraid to get exactly what you want. When it comes to ease of use, the ANR OWB Holster excels. Right out of the box, it fit my Glock G17 with ZEV threaded barrel snugly, with the open bottom allowing the extended barrel to poke through without issue. Drawing and re-holstering the firearm was effortless, thanks to the precisely molded shape that retains the weapon securely in place until needed.

ANR does not publicly compare our products to other company’s products as a means to justify why ANR products are superior. Trust and Integrity – These core values are applied internally and externally. Our customers trust the products to help protect their lives. ANR has a strong moral compass which can be seen on a daily basis through our social media outlets.

Most people probably don’t think, “pheasants,” when they consider their next tactical holster purchase. And their Appendix Holster Builder with Polymer Claw – Inside The Waistband is about as straightforward as a holster gets while still giving the user some options to play with. Only in the last few years has the .22LR cartridge been deemed as even mildly acceptable for defensive purposes. Teamwork and Collaboration – Teamwork is paramount here at ANR. Employees are cross area trained so they can rotate positions and not get burnt out in any one area.

Today on I Carry we have an FN 545 pistol in an ANR Design holster with a PowerTac flashlight.

So hot, in fact, that FN America decided to resurrect it, only modernized for the 21st century. Gone is the magazine disconnect that required a magazine be inserted in the pistol for the gun to function. And, perhaps most importantly, capacity is increased to 17+1 rounds. Man, the Hi Power has really had a wild ride, hasn’t it? It pretty much languished for, well, decades; lost in the shadow of John Moses Browning’s M1911 and suffering a dearth of quality defensive ammunition.

There is no “perfect” holster, but some are a lot better than others. When ANR sent me the Right-Handed Quick Ship Standard Outside the Waistband (OWB) Holster, I gave it a whirl and ended up quite impressed. Having used it for a few weeks now, I can confidently attest to its exceptional durability, simple design, and ease of use. “In 2013, I started getting interested in firearms classes and needed holsters and equipment for class,” Costa said. “At the time, there were only a few reputable Kydex holster makers, and prices were very high compared to today’s prices.

ANR does have some of the fastest and most capable means of tooling and new production introduction in the holster industry. We are able to bring new SKUs to market, faster and more consistently than our competition. “Our 3D printed accessories caught the eye of a few larger companies. This helped bridge some future collaboration opportunities that catapulted the company forward. Locals at classes saw our holsters and started offering cash. And then… It’s like Browning dropping the Hi Power turned on a faucet.

Made with the highest quality materials available, our KYDEX holsters are built for hard use, standing up to the punishment of our sponsored competition shooters and everyday users. Each KYDEX Holster is custom made and handcrafted in the USA. All ANR Design holsters come suppressor sight ready up to 0.450″ tall. Comfortably and safely carry and conceal your firearms with ANR's minimalistic KYDEX Holster design. The three position adjustable keeper lets you decide what position works for you, then trim away the excess. Classic looks and utility combined to make the perfect EDC belt. The FN 545 Tactical is a bit on the larger side, with a 4.7-inch barrel, overall length of 8.3 inches, height of 6 inches and 31 ounce weight.

ANR Design started as Alex & Ryan Design LLC (still the parent company name). ANR Design is owned and operated by Alex Costa, and Jon Blevins. Most ANR customers would refer to the company as “A&R”, which rolls off the tongue as “ANR”. In conclusion, ANR is an acronym that means absolutely nothing, but it is now our DBA. Scabbards are what protects the sword from the elements, keeping moisture out and the blade dry. The scabbard protects the blade edge so it may remain sharp, it also protects the user and the environment around the user from being cut by the blade.

As the 9 mm situation improved, the polymer-frame, striker-fired pistols exemplified by the Glock G17 and G19, Smith & Wesson M&P, SIG P320 and others dominated the concealed-carry scene. The poor Hi Power was neglected, overlooked and all-but forgotten, to the point that Browning discontinued it. Two new models designed for the fast-paced world of 3-gun. ANR Design LLC is not just a manufacturing company, we are a people company. Every single new technology or new product brought to market by ANR Design is driven by a person, or a collective result of the needs of people.

The ANR Design logo originated from a tattoo Alex had tattooed on him years before the company started, Fugen Bosatsu. Similar to a zodiac or protective talisman, Fugen Bosatsu is the central symbol of the logo. The three points of the logo are the Ronin symbol, a wandering samurai who had no lord or master. The pair of symbols in the logo mean “Defensive Masterless Warrior”, to the owners Jon and Alex. These are 1-to-1 licensed patterns provided by the OEM manufacturer. ANR Design does not have control over the pattern, and how it appears on the holster.

The FN 545 also has a significant accessory rail at the end of the dustcover, for weaponlights and/or lasers as desired. One could easily set the FN 545 up for home defense with the extended magazine, mounted light and suppressor, and then carry it with just the standard magazine. That extends the usefulness of the FN 545, as well as making regular practice simpler, as only one pistol need make the trek to the range. New Hampshire-based ANR Designs has been making top-quality Kydex holsters for a laundry list of firearms for a long time. If there’s one thing that FN America really isn’t known for, it’s concealed-carry-friendly handguns. Oh, sure, the company dropped the tiny FN503 a few years back, but that was, well, quite a bit after pistols from Glock, Smith & Wesson and others were on the market.

What Is A Veranda On A Cruise Ship And Is It Actually Worth It?

what is a veranda on a cruise ship

If you're sensitive to noise and specifically chose a room far away from the elevators and the noisy Lido Deck, you will want to say no to a cabin upgrade that can't guarantee a quiet locale. Decide how much you’re willing to spend and remember that while the cabin is important, you’ll also want to budget for on-board activities, excursions, beverages, and other expenses. Cabins on middle floors offer the best combination of access to facilities and less movement in the event of rough seas. To ensure you get the best selection, it’s recommended to book a stateroom with a French balcony at least a year in advance, especially for popular itineraries. Other unique quirks of Virgin Voyages' Sea Terrace cabins are mood lighting and full-size beds that turn into sofas by day. There are only a dozen of these cabins per ship, so you'll want to book as early as possible to snag one.

Best time to book a Cruise

You can do this with a sunset veranda located strategically to provide you both views during your cruise. After all, you'll get a bed and bathroom no matter which cabin you choose, but you won't have as much fun if you have no budget left to spend once you're on board. No matter how good a deal that seems, if money is tight, don't take the upgrade. Save your vacation budget for tours and shoreside fun or onboard treats like date-night restaurants and fun cocktails.

AmaWaterways Twin Balcony Staterooms

But even the best ship internet can be spotty at times, so if you need the ability to do these things at specific times, it might not be the best choice. Examine the ship’s layout to see where your cabin is in relation to key areas like the lido deck, dining rooms, and entertainment venues. Consider potential noise from above or below your cabin, especially if it’s immediately above or below a dance floor, crew area, or near the pool. Several oceangoing cruise companies offer staterooms with French balconies, including Viking River Cruises, Uniworld, and others that cruise the waterways of Europe.

French Balcony Cabins

Whether you’re looking for a standard cabin with a private balcony or want to indulge in the luxury of a suite, there’s a veranda stateroom type to enhance your cruise experience. A veranda is a space where you can unwind in your own private outdoor area, enjoy the view and the fresh air. With their space-saving design, French balconies are popular on river cruise ships. They offer a luxurious and comfortable experience, allowing passengers to admire the scenery and relax in their cabins. Whether opting for a French balcony or another cabin category, passengers will surely create cherished memories during their cruise.

The Budget Accommodation Choice

The veranda is walled, but it is still open, so you can lounge in the open air and enjoy the fresh ocean breeze. If the upgrade is free, or if the new cabin comes with extras you will use (such as concierge access or spa perks), consider saying yes. However, if the cost of the upgrade is not worth whatever benefits the new room has, politely decline the cruise cabin upgrade. If you have booked a specific type of cabin for a reason, do not accept an upgrade offer.

What are the cheapest cruise ship cabins?

What's great about having a balcony is that you don't have to get dressed and ready for the day to watch a port arrival. You can just roll out of bed in your jammies and head out on the balcony. Additionally, the website’s active social media presence and email newsletter make it easy for me to stay up-to-date on the latest cruise news and deals.

Biggest Cruise Ships in the World

It’s designed to give guests a more spacious room by incorporating the balcony into the main cabin area. When you’re enjoying your cruise ship veranda, it’s essential to keep some safety considerations in mind. Each cruise line may have a unique naming convention for their cabins with verandas, which can impact what is included, as well as any potential restrictions. So it all comes down to a matter of personal preference, budget, and the type of cruise experience you seek. Some large cruise ships can feel very crowded, making a veranda the perfect escape. If you’re comparing cruise ship’s or booking with a different company, you may have noticed some name discrepancies.

The ultimate guide to choosing a cruise ship cabin

When it comes to designing cabin spaces on river cruise ships, there has been a focus on innovation and reimagining the concept of a French balcony. Cruise lines are pushing the boundaries to maximize space use and enhance passengers’ overall experience. When it comes to cruising with French balconies, Viking River Cruises is a top choice for many travelers.

However, some river cruise ships prefer French balconies to verandas because of the narrowness of the waterways. Ultimately, the decision between a veranda and a balcony comes down to personal preference. For me, having a veranda stateroom is a non-negotiable when it comes to cruising. It’s my personal preference, my escape from the crowds, and my little piece of freedom on the open sea. In simple terms, it is a type of cabin that provides passengers with a private balcony, allowing them to soak in the beauty of the surrounding ocean and ports of call. Whether you’re cruising through tranquil Caribbean waters or witnessing the majestic glaciers of Alaska, a veranda stateroom offers an unmatched experience.

Whichever style you select, a cruise ship’s veranda is a perfect place to unwind, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and make the most of your trip. One would assume that all cruise ships have identical names for their cabins and decks. Unlike other cruise lines that refer to a room with a balcony as either a ‘Balcony’ or ‘Veranda(h)’ cabin or stateroom, with Disney it’s known as an ‘Oceanview Stateroom with a Verandah’. One of the biggest staterooms with a Veranda you can choose on a cruise ship (without opting for a Suite), these are really large rooms with equally large balconies. Often, you’re not allowed to book one of these rooms unless you’re travelling with at least four guests. In contrast, Infinite Verandas present a modern innovation in cruise ship cabin design, integrating the balcony with the indoor space.

Some upscale lines will arrange an elegant, private dinner for two on your balcony — think white tablecloths, multiple courses, the works — at no extra charge. Among mass-market lines, Princess Cruises offers an Ultimate Balcony Dining experience at an extra charge that brings a four-course meal, Champagne and cocktails or a glass of wine. In the case of the Princess offering, you'll even get fresh flowers and a (flameless) candle on your table. Speaking of the view, you're going to be able to see passing wildlife much better from a balcony cabin than an ocean-view cabin.

Breathing fresh air and focusing on the horizon may also relieve symptoms of sea sickness. If you’re looking for a more spacious and luxurious option, suites are the way to go. Suites on river cruise ships provide additional living space, separate sleeping areas, and sometimes multiple types of balconies. They offer the ultimate indulgence and are perfect for those who want extra comfort and relaxation during their cruise.

Describing it as an unforgettable experience simply does not do it justice, as it is truly epic. From South Africa to Kenya and Tanzania or across to Namibia, the opportunity to see lions, giraffes, elephants or gorillas in their natural habitat cannot be missed. Setting out with a good guide, especially a park ranger, will considerably up your chances of spotting wildlife. Trained guides are well-versed in the prime in-park vantage points and can get timely updates from other park rangers on current animal movements and migrations. Cruise-run safari excursions will typically make such arrangements as part of their tour (be sure to inquire when booking). If you're making plans to visit the safari park independently during your time in port, you'll definitely want to hire a knowledgeable guide.

Cruise to Durban and explore the colonial history South Africa and delight in the famous beaches where the locals spend their vacations. Discover imaginative architecture, impressive Spanish dishes and beautiful excursions into nature when you cruise to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia. Traditional cultures blend beautifully with modern advancements in Abu Dhabi, the stunning capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Of course many longer cruises that wind up in Africa begin in ports like Southampton in Europe or Singapore in Asia. Some lines (like Silversea and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises) offer an upgrade for a fly-in elephant safari in neighboring private reserves, too, where you can even ride the elephants or watch them swim. Set sail on Arabian Gulf cruises to explore exotic souks (Arabian markets), smell fragrant incense wafting from a traditional bakhoor burner and sample spicy dishes like machboos, a delicious seafood or meat stew.

On cruises to Africa, you’ll have the opportunity to visit one or more of the following port cities, as well as their surroundings. Please check with individual cruise lines and their itineraries for detailed port information. An Africa cruise is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that will leave you amazed at the continent's beauty. On African cruises, passengers can visit the wine country of South Africa, or watch the sun sink over the plains of Kenya after a day on safari.

The Sahara, meanwhile, the largest hot desert in the world, is spread across the whole of northern Africa, encompassing about a dozen countries and is a geographic and cultural differentiator. Although nomadic herders have largely given way to lucrative oil and gas economies, humans have inhabited the Great Desert for thousands of years. Kruger National Park, one of the most popular safari destinations, is at the opposite end of South Africa from its major port in Cape Town, about 1,100 miles away, but only a four-hour drive from Mozambique’s Maputo.

Onboard each sailing you have lectures, demonstrations and tastings as part of a Culture Curriculum. Azamara boasts more overnights in ports, longer stays and night time tours. We know the destinations you'll be visiting and what there is to see, do and experience. We offer you a variety of excursions to choose from, in every port you'll visit. From the moment you step onboard, you’ll receive Celebrity’s world-class service with activities to stimulate both the mind and body.

With a large Indian influence in South Africa, particularly in Durban, which has the highest population of Indians outside of the country, their spicy cuisine is prevalent. In Durban, ‘Bunny Chow’, a mutton or bean curry served in a hollowed-out bread loaf, is a local city favourite. Prepare for big swings in temperature, especially when exploring the desert. Day times can be scotching hot, but then at night, temperatures fall dramatically and it can become very cold. Due to its vast landmass stretching across the equator, climates across Africa can vary; from the subtropical desert temperatures of Namibia to the temperate, regions of South Africa.

African safari cruises are largely the terrain of luxury cruise lines, and the major player in this arena is upscale Silversea Cruises. While many of the best things about travel can stem from the serendipitous, when it comes to safaris, the best rewards are usually reserved for the well-prepared, which is the very reason for this mini-guide to safari cruises. With that in mind, read on for everything you need to know to plan the perfect African safari cruise for you.

Grand Turk Cruise Center Visit Turks and Caicos Islands

grand turk carnival cruise port

This is a port of call when you really should get off the ship to take in the stunning beaches, experience excursions and take in the local culture. The beach is located on the right as you walk down the cruise ship pier towards the cruise center. Whether you choose to hang out, eat and shop at the cruise center, venture into town or purchase a shore excursion, a port call in Grand Turk is sure to be a fun and memorable experience.

Swim with Stingrays in Gibbs Cay

This beach is located near the historical town, and several tours combine sightseeing in Cockburn Town and snorkeling at the beach, the perfect combination of history and relaxation. In front of the complex is the cruise center beach known as the SunRay Beach. There are plenty of sun loungers on this beach, grab one and enjoy the beach for free. If a slow horseback ride along a white sandy beach is on your to-do list, Grand Turk might just be the perfect place to try it. Available as a ship’s shore excursion,  it’s necessary to sign up at the beginning of your cruise to avoid a sold-out disappointment. The Turks and Caicos National Museum in Cockburn Town is located just a 10-minute drive from the Grand Turk cruise port and will offer you the islands’ history and culture.

Local Eats

Built in the 1850s to help ships navigate the shallow reefs at the northern end of the island, this historic building is the only lighthouse on Grand Turk island. Your guide will take you past local attractions including the Ridge Trail, Grand Turk lighthouse, and the North Creek Bird watching area. Enjoy the smooth sailing catamarans are known for, as well as stops for snorkeling along the way. After spending time relaxing on the beach, you’ll sail back to the Cruise Center and enjoy a complimentary beverage.

Cruise Line Adds “Glacier Day” to Its Alaskan Cruise Itineraries

But snorkeling at Gibbs Cay offers more than just stingrays; the crystal-clear waters are alive with other marine treasures. As you explore the underwater world, you’ll come across colorful fish, vibrant corals, and the beauty of the Turks and Caicos marine ecosystem. A visit to Gibbs Cay provides an adventure that is both informative and thrilling, making it the perfect family adventure.

Flowrider

You only need to give yourself a few minutes to pack up your beach items and head back on board. This port is perfect for relaxing in the sun and just enjoying the amazing Caribbean weather. IQCruising recommends a taxi to get there - $5.00 per person each way. Exploring the sights, town, and beaches of Grand Turk is one of our recommended ways of spending the day on Grand Turk.

Time Zone

This includes snorkel gear, foam mats, clamshell loungers that offer shade, and you can also buy sunscreen and water. There’s a small convenience store right next to the beach rental booth. Let the name fool you — Grand Turk, of the Turks & Caicos islands, may be small but it’s packed with scenic punch and historic charm. Carnival cruises to Grand Turk deliver you to this enchanted island outpost dotted with old windmills, grassy trails and picture-perfect beaches. Discover an oasis of green set in aquamarine seas, ringed by a pristine coral reef and the steep wall of the continental shelf. One great thing about Grand Turk is the ship is literally a couple minutes from where you are!

Here you’ll also find Jack's Shack, a popular restaurant to grab lunch. Complimentary beach lounge chairs are found fronting the complex, although depending on the number of ships in port, this area of the beach can become extremely crowded. Grand Turk is one of the few destinations in the Caribbean where a great beach can be enjoyed directly off the cruise ships. If you want to explore the island on your Grand Turk vacation, visit the numerous historical sites like Her Majesty’s prison, the Light House or the Turks and Caicos museum.

During our stop, there were excursions available that took passengers out on catamarans for snorkeling tours, often with drinks afterward while on the boat. This part of the world has some of the most beautiful water anywhere, so getting out and enjoying it is well worth the cost of the excursion. There are many guided snorkeling tours offered, and you can book them online, through your cruise line, or with local tour vendors. These guided tours will introduce you to the world of stingrays, where you can swim alongside them, feed them, and even hold them.

After snorkeling, you’ll head to a secluded beach away from the crowds for some genuine island time. The best part of this Turks and Caicos excursion is that you can find it on a variety of cruise ships, including on Silver Moon and Silver Ray during Silversea’s seasonal sailings in the area. Where cruise ships dock, things to do, how to explore on your own and with shore excursions. Once you’ve explored what’s below, you’ll have time to chill out up above, on Grand Turk’s famous white beaches, so don’t forget your swimsuit and towel.

The Cruise Center Complex is just one of the best things you can do in Grand Turk. This complex is a large open-air area with tons of excursion booths, gift shops, and restaurants. The island is home to Cockburn Town, the capital city and government center of Turks and Caicos.

grand turk carnival cruise port

Clam shell shade for the beach chairs, floats, and snorkeling equipment are available for rent at the Beach Rental Hut centrally located on the beach. You can also find a lot of gifts on Front Street in Cockburn Town. There are a few permanent shops, but when tourism is at its high point, you’ll see many vendors pop up a tent to sell their handmade items.

We’ve covered the basics -- many of which are similar to other Caribbean ports of call -- let’s check out the shore excursions you will struggle to find anywhere else aside from Turks and Caicos. Leave your worries at home and enjoy the amazing beach and water of Grand Turk! You don’t have to stress about getting back to the boat because well it is right there.

We mentioned some of these above, but in case you missed them, we’ve included them here as well. If you’re thinking of a quiet, relaxing time by the pool, that’s not really the case. To be honest, given the small size of Grand Turk there isn’t a ton of variety of things to do like you might find elsewhere. Still, there’s plenty to keep you entertained for a day in port without spending a lot of money.

Save some time for a dose of reggae and refreshments at a local spot such as Reef Shark Bar & Grill before you return to your ship. In addition to the beach, the Grand Turk Cruise Center offers visitors the opportunity to explore the island with organized tours onboard the ship. If you like horses, Grand Turk offers horseback tours that include an exciting ride on the beach. After a historical guided tour through Cockburn Town, you can choose to ride your horses straight into the ocean for a cooldown you’ll both enjoy. Located in the lovely Guinep House, built during the colonial era, the museum is small in size, yet full of fascinating exhibits. On your ride back, you will go on the salt industry tour, visiting Salinas like the Red Salina and even make a stop at the Salt House exhibit.

11 Top Carnival Cruise Deals You Dont Want to Miss

carmival cruise

One night, as I was dining at Rudi's with some of my travel companions, we joked that the lines were dangerously close to melding with the line for the nearby guest services desk. Although it's often loud, busy and difficult to navigate, especially on sea days, it's a prime place to sit and people-watch. I found myself gravitating there repeatedly to enjoy coffee or a snack from the nearby JavaBlue Cafe while watching the cast from that night's show rehearse at Center Stage — something you can't usually do on other ships.

Bonsai Teppanyaki

Pricing changes over time, but the fastest "premium" service on Carnival vessels was recently priced at $21.25 per day when bought in advance ($25 per day when bought onboard). My favorite onboard dining experience of the whole sailing was at Emeril's Bistro 717 in the Currents zone on Deck 6. A version of this chef Emeril Lagasse-affiliated spot is on each of Carnival's Excel Class ships, bearing the hull number of the original vessel for which the new one is named. Simply walk up to order at the counter, have a seat and a waiter will take over from there. With calming seafoam green and yellow decor alongside extras like Elemis toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, these are some of the most relaxing cabins on any ship.

CARNIVAL JUBILEE: NEXT-LEVEL FUN, POWERED BY LNG

Dubbed WaterWorks, these areas vary in size and features from vessel to vessel. They typically have one or two big waterslides (sometimes three!), a play zone with interactive water features and a large, continuously filling dump bucket that periodically soaks everybody within range. In fact, when it comes to waterslides on ships, Carnival is the cruise world's king. There's now at least one waterslide on all but one ship in the Carnival fleet (Carnival Luminosa) — something no other line can say.

About Carnival Cruises

carmival cruise

Other venues in the area include the Marina Bar for cocktails and coffee, complimentary Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano and for-fee seafood eatery Rudi's Seagrill, created by food pop artist chef Rudi Sodamin. The vessel offers weeklong Caribbean voyages on a regular rotation from its home port in Galveston, Texas, meaning you'll find a healthy dose of Texas-style fun on board (more on that later). In fact, Carnival is so dedicated to keeping the ship in the Lone Star State that it had a Texas star painted on the ship's hull. Later in the year, the name was revealed to be Carnival Jubilee.

We call Carnival Celebration®'s onboard burger spot Guy’s Burger Joint™. We teamed up with Guy Fieri to design not just the burgers and fries, but to help bring in the kind of rustic atmosphere you’d find at a roadside burger shack somewhere off a coastal highway. All signs point to ambiance — and serious flavor — so try a burger dressed up the way Guy likes it, or take it off-roading… to the nearby topping bar, where you can make it your own. They’re not plays, they’re not exactly concerts… these shows are something else entirely. Every performances is built on amazing songs you know and love, presented like you’ve never seen before.

It's a place to get together to talk, watch movies, play video games and take part in other activities. Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, notably, has its very own in-house brewery you can see behind glass walls — something still relatively rare on cruise ships. It makes house beers including Parched Pig West Coast IPA and Parched Pig Toasted Amber which you'll find on many Carnival vessels in kegs and cans. Carnival is the only cruise line to keg and can its own beer. Note that Carnival's two oldest ships — those that are part of the 1990s-built Fantasy Class — have relatively few balcony cabins by today's standards. (After retrofitting, several have around 150 balcony cabins, out of a total of more than 1,000 cabins in all.) In part because of this, Carnival has been phasing these ships out of its fleet in recent years.

Carnival Miracle

During the day, there is no specific dress code, and people dress casually. If it's a sea day in a warm-weather destination, and you're bound for the top deck, that means looking like you're going to the beach — T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside) are just fine. The drinking age on sailings on Carnival ships in Australia is 18. Most vessels have standard North American-style, 110-volt outlets in rooms, as well as European-style, 220-volt outlets. In addition, vessels offer extra-charge laundry and, on select ships, dry cleaning services.

SO THAT’S ALL THE FUN ON CARNIVAL CELEBRATION®?

Carnival adds an automatic service gratuity of $16 to $18 per person, per day to final bills, depending on the cabin category (children under the age of 2 are exempt). If you are unhappy with the service you receive, you can adjust this amount at the Guest Services desk before disembarking. Also, an 18% gratuity is added to bar bills and the cover charge of the Chef's Table.

The trip itself is as basic as it gets, going from Miami to Nassau and back. Still, if you want to take a cruise and not spend a lot of money, this is one of your best options. It’s also one of your best options if you’re wanting to let loose as the short trip and low cost should lead to a festive atmosphere. Price Doesn’t Mean ValueOne final thing to consider is that just because a price is low doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best value.

Get ready to relax as you gaze upon Carnival Valor's gentle wake from your spacious balcony. On your way you'll find onboard food spots designed to regale your palate, like BlueIguana Cantina™ and Guy's Burger Joint™... Let yourself be swept away to RedFrog Pub® or Alchemy Bar® for a drink, or get a little carried away rooting for your favorites at SkyBox™ Sports Bar.

Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. The third and fourth quarters occur in the Summer Landing zone; passengers can rope hay bales, participate in a hot wing-eating contest at Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse and follow it up with music from a live band. Another excellent show is "Rio Carnival," which occurs at Center Stage in the Grand Central zone instead of the main theater. Although the first half felt a bit shaky and slightly boring to me, the second half redeemed it all, featuring a parade of dancers and aerialists dressed in flamboyant costumes synonymous with Rio de Janeiro's Carnival. Fun pursuits on the daily schedule might include arts and crafts, themed parties, science experiments, games and story time, depending on the age group.

On the wall above Dr. Inks, window-shaped screens provide a show for anyone passing through the length of the Currents promenade area. Programming rotates between underwater adventures, nature scenes and even artwork produced by passengers and kids from St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Surrounding the stage are tons of seating options, as well as JavaBlue Cafe, which serves coffee and snacks; Cherry on Top candy shop; the Center Stage and Grand View Bars; and Bonsai Sushi and Teppanyaki. It also serves as an access point for the onboard shops, Piano Bar 88, The Punchliner Comedy Club and the Jubilee Casino.

Cocktail recipes inspired by precious metals and gemstones, drinks served in exquisite glassware, plus garnishes like edible glitter to remind you of sunlight streaming through the waves from up above! All this glitz pairs perfectly with live music, making this the perfect place to relax with an elegant drink before or after dinner. An interior cabin starts at just $369 for nearly a week on the ship. This ship isn’t the newest, but was built just a few years ago as the start of the Vista class, Carnival’s second largest style of ship. That means it has all the latest features you’d expect on a Carnival ship. If you’re wanting a deal on a vacation this year, then check out this 7-day cruise from Los Angeles (technically Carnival sails from Long Beach).

Carnival Panorama, another sister to Carnival Vista, entered service as the cruise line's flagship on December 11, 2019. She became the first new ship to homeport on the West Coast since Paradise (now Carnival Paradise) in 1998. These comfy rooms with a view let you take in the scenery as you sail toward your beautiful destinations.
